Difference between Area and Urban Network

The public transportation service of the City of Como consists of:

  • Urban lines (of urban network) : operate exclusively within the city of Como (lines 2, 4, 5, 7, 11, T3) and the fare applied is that of urban network.
  • Suburban (urban area) lines: operate both within the city and in some neighboring municipalities. For the suburban routes below, 75′ urban network tickets are not valid, but a 90′ urban area ticket is required (even if the trip is less than 90 minutes in length)

Suburban lines and suburban routes

Currently, the lines with mixed service (urban + suburban) are:

  • Line 1: suburban section from Leno to San Fermo.
  • Line 3: Suburban route Fare B to Lipomo.
  • Linea 6: tratta suburbana da Tavernola a Maslianico.
  • Line 8: suburban section from La Guzza to Casnate.
  • Line 12: suburban section in the municipality of San Fermo.

⚠️ Exception: on the Ponte Chiasso – Chiasso section of Line 1, an international one-way ticket is required.

The combination of urban network and suburban network constitutes the urban area of Como.

Rules about tickets

  • Urban area tickets allow travel on all urban and suburban lines, within the time validity limit.
  • The suburban line C50 (Como – Cantù) is considered urban network up to Trecallo, urban area up to Senna/Navedano.
